ECP Annual Picnic Sign-Up (08/13/2026)

We are moving the annual picnic back 1 week. The new date for the event is:

All other details remain the same. Original message below with the event details and how to sign up. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope you can make it to the event!

Picnic Location

The picnic will be held at the North Park Lilac Shelter from 6pm - Sundown. This shelter is directly next to the Northpark Pumptrack and Mountain Bike Skills area. Kickball to start at 7:30pm. The official monthly meeting business will be issued in the newsletter so we can spend our time having fun!

Kickball & Potluck

To sign up for kickball and to participate in the potluck, CLICK HERE. There are two tabs: One for kickball and one for the potluck sign-up

Kickball:

If you plan on participating, choose your team. You must bring both a BLUE and GREEN T-shirt just in case we need to equally distribute teams. We will be loosely following the official Word Kickball Association rules. If we do not have enough daylight to get to 7 innings, the team with the most points by sundown wins. Remember, we are playing for fun and just want to have a friendly competition where the winners have bragging rights until next year.

Potluck:

Members are encouraged to bring their favorite potluck item to share. The club will be providing burgers, hotdogs, and non-alcoholic beverages to share.The club will also have a grill to share if you would like an alternative entree. We do have an alcohol permit, but alcoholic beverages are BYOB and can only be consumed within the pavillion.

Grillmasters:

We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to man the grill. Use the sign-up sheet to add your name to the list.

Other Activities:

Don't want to play kickball? That's perfectly fine! Members who do not want to participate are encouraged to bring yard games, ride bikes on the pump track or skills area, or simply hang-out in the pavillion. Pre-picnic activities also are welcome. If you would like to organize an activity, simply email the listserve who, what, when, and where - just make sure you make it to the picnic to socialize afterwards!

NON-MEMBERS WELCOME! Have someone in mind who you think would like joining the ECP? Feel free to invite them!

Raystown Lake Camping/Adventure Weekend (08/28/2026)

The 2026 MTB School will be amping up our grad trip this year with a combined grad trip and ECP-wide trip to the Meadow loop group site at Seven Points campground. It will be subsidized with ECP activity funds - consider it a mini annual party. The dates are 8/28-8/30 - keep an eye out for a future email in a few months to sign up. The layout is tent camping with a central pavilion.

For those interested in taking the 2026 school, know that we'll still do organized rides and provide feedback for school graduates during this trip, but you can also choose your own adventure that weekend.

Some amenities of the area:

35+ miles of MTB singletrack in the Allegrippis trail system (rideable from camp), including the most fun trail in PA - Hydro Loop
Bike skills park
18 and 9 hole disc golf courses
Beach area
Lake access for all boats / personal watercraft (kayak, SUP, etc.)
Cliff jumping (at your own risk)
Nearby rock climbing
1000 steps trail hike
Visitor center w/ Saturday evening concerts

80th Anniversary Celebration (09/10/2027)

Friday Sep 10 evening through Sunday Sep 12 afternoon. The main party will take place all day and evening on Saturday (we're aiming for Boyce Park Four Seasons Lodge | BP Four Seasons Activity Center) and we're cooking up social plans and activities for Friday evening and Sunday to keep the celebration going and make it worthwhile for out of towners to travel for this event.

The ECP, founded in 1947, is celebrating 80 years of bringing adventure, exploration, education, and community to generations of SW Pennsylvanians. Our last anniversary celebration for 70 years was at North Park and a huge success. Our membership has grown significantly since then, our members continue to spread out into the world and some stay in touch, and some of the club's original generation are still with us. This celebration will be one to remember.
