Bio
When I first joined the ECP in 2006 I started to hear stories and see pictures from all the Mountaineering School trips. I simultaneously felt a sense of awe but also dismissal as I figured that was for crazy people who were in perfect shape. I pictured myself more of flatwater paddling adventurer where there was more opportunity to drink beer and less chance of injury. However, in true ECP fashion, I was quickly coerced into taking the Rock School and eventually found myself in the Mountaineering School a few years later, mainly as a way to avoid FOMO on the new adventures my wife, a 2014 Mt. School graduate and director, was starting to plan. That was all it took to spark a new passion and a lifestyle change I would never have predicted. With mountaineering I have found a fantastic way to travel the world, form lifelong friendships, get in better shape, and learn about myself in ways that I never imagined possible. In three short years I have climbed in Nepal and Mexico, summited Mt. Washington and Mt. Rainier, and have been to places and seen vistas that few people get to experience. I am excited to return as an instructor and to be able to participate as a committee member where I can pay it forward to the next class. Explorers Club of Pittsburgh: ECP Mt.
